Topout Tech, LLC — Cookie Policy

What this means (plain English)
- We use only the cookies that make the product work: staying signed in and remembering which firm you're working in. That's the whole list, and it's published below.
- No advertising cookies, no analytics cookies, and nothing that follows you to other websites. That's why there is no cookie consent banner — there is nothing optional to consent to.
- We do measure how the apps are used, including a session replay with everything you type hidden before it leaves your browser, but it runs without cookies and without any other browser storage. It is described in full in our Privacy Policy.
- Our marketing site counts page views without cookies at all.
- You can block cookies in your browser, but the essential ones are what keep you signed in — blocking them means the apps can't work.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device so it can recognize your browser — for example, to keep you signed in as you move between pages. Related technologies (pixels, beacons, tracking scripts) are often used by other companies for advertising and analytics; Topout does not use those.
2. The cookies we use
We use essential cookies only — the ones the Service cannot function without:
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Type | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Session cookies (e.g. __session) |
Clerk (our sign-in provider, on .topout.build) |
Keeps you signed in across the Topout apps | Essential | Session / short-lived, refreshed while you use the Service |
co_active_firm |
Closeout Compass | Remembers which firm's workspace you're working in | Essential (functional) | Persistent |
procore_token, procore_oauth_state |
Closeout Compass | Holds an encrypted, short-lived token only while you run a Procore import | Essential (functional) | Expires ≤ 1.5 hours |
We do not use advertising cookies, third-party analytics cookies, social-media pixels, or any cross-site tracking technology, and we do not permit third parties to place tracking cookies on our sites. Our in-app product analytics and session replay set no cookies at all and write nothing to your browser's storage, which is why they add nothing to the table above; what they do collect is described in our Privacy Policy.
3. Cookieless analytics on the marketing site
Our public marketing pages count page views and page performance using a cookieless service run by our hosting provider (Vercel Web Analytics). It sets no cookies, stores no persistent identifiers, builds no visitor profiles, and cannot follow you across other websites. Details are in our Privacy Policy.
4. No consent banner — and why
Laws that require cookie banners require consent for non-essential cookies (advertising, analytics, tracking). Because we use essential cookies only, there is nothing to opt in or out of, so we don't show a banner. If we ever add a non-essential cookie, we will update this policy first and add a consent mechanism before it is set.
5. Managing cookies
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings (look for "Cookies and site data" in Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari). Because our only cookies are the ones that keep you signed in and keep the apps working, blocking them will prevent the Service from functioning. Browser "Do Not Track" and Global Privacy Control signals: as explained in the Privacy Policy, we don't track anyone across sites, so there is nothing for those signals to switch off.
6. Changes
We'll post updates here with a new version and effective date. Adding any non-essential cookie counts as a material change and gets notice and a consent mechanism first.
